Overview
Reta (also known as GLP-3 or RT) is a 39-amino acid peptide whose main chain is based on glucagon and has been modified so that a single molecule can simultaneously activate the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors. Non-coding residues at positions 2, 13, and 20 contribute to increased stability and receptor balance, while the C20 fatty acid chain enables binding to albumin, thereby prolonging the half-life.
This compound is prepared via solid-phase synthesis and preparative purification, and is subsequently released with a batch-matched certificate of analysis (including HPLC purity and LC-MS identification data).
Research Applications
Researchers use Reta to investigate how glucagon receptor activity acts on incretin signaling pathways that GLP-1 (Sema) and GLP-2 (Tirz) cannot activate. Typical studies include cAMP reporter assays targeting GCGR, GIPR, and GLP-1R in HEK293 cells; models of hepatic lipid metabolism and thermogenesis; and rodent studies measuring the relationship between energy expenditure and food intake.
