Brief Introduction of Tesamorelin
Tesamorelin is made with growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF).Tesamorelin is used to reduce excess fat around the stomach that is caused by taking certain HIV medications. This condition is also called lipodystrophy (LYE-poe-DIS-troe-fee).Tesamorelin is not a weight-loss medication and should not be used to treat obesity.
Tesamorelin is the only FDA drug approved for the intended reduction of abdominal fat deposits that develop in some patients receiving antiviral therapy for HIV infection. It stimulates the body's release of growth hormone, which is reduced in HIV lipodystrophy.
Those who are infected with the HIV virus must sometimes deal with a health issue which is known as
lipodystrophy. This is a syndrome which is triggered by different causes. Certain people with this health issue (one in four of HIV patients), experience fat loss – however, others experience weight gain in key areas, including the throat, the chest (or breasts) and the tummy.
