Brief Introduction:
Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic, chemical formula C11H12Cl2N2O5, soluble in methanol, ethanol, propanol and ethyl acetate, slightly soluble in ether and chloroform, insoluble in petroleum ether and benzene. Chloramphenicol is extremely stable, and its aqueous solution does not become ineffective even after boiling for 5 hours.Because there are two asymmetric carbon atoms in the molecule, chloramphenicol has four optical isomers, of which only the left-handed isomer has antibacterial ability.

Oral administration, adult 1g ~ 2G/day;Children 50mg to 100mg/kg, 2 to 4 times a day.
Application:
It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It is effective against most gram-negative and positive bacteria, but stronger against gram-negative bacteria. Especially to typhoid, paratyphoid bacillus the strongest effect. To influenza bacillus, whooping cough bacillus, dysentery bacillus is also strong, to escherichia coli, pneumonia bacillus, deformation bacillus, pseudomonas aeruginosa also have inhibitory effect. The effect on gram-positive bacteria is not penicillin and tetracycline, rickettsia, chlamydia trachomatis also effective.
